Switzerland’s leading mobile communications provider has actually been providing their customers with a cross-channel shopping service for quite some time already. Making use of the company’s “Click & Pick” service, Swisscom customers have been able to order products online and collect them up at the desired store.

By connecting the digital sales channel with the traditional store concept, Swisscom provides a large number of advantages:

  • Compare products and prices directly online
  • Reserve and collect the devices on the same day
  • Reservations guarantee the availability of the chosen device in the shop
  • Quick and on-the-spot service thanks to easy processing of online orders
  • Enjoy personalized consultations in combination with convenient online shopping
  • Avoid unnecessary waits on delivery

The well-proven “Click & Pick” service has now been enhanced by an additional feature. “By offering a same-day delivery option, which is currently available as pilot run, our customers receive the ordered goods much faster than before. The devices are delivered by bicycle courier within only four hours after ordering them via our web shop,” explains Urs Lehmann, Swisscom project manager for the NTS Retail Suite.

The link between Swisscom’s eCommerce system and the NTSwincash solution by the Austrian software expert NTS Retail provides the necessary technical framework for the new feature. The system uses web services to allow cross-channel processing of customer orders. When a customer buys or reserves a product via the online shop, the corresponding order is immediately passed on to the NTSwincash system for further processing.

Apart from the above mentioned innovations, Swisscom also offers their customers a variety of other services. From now on, customer receipts, which are created at one of the numerous Swisscom shops using the NTS Retail POS solution, are automatically transferred to the Swisscom customer portal. Furthermore, it is now also possible to use an eSignature feature to digitally sign credit card receipts which are then archived electronically.

This significantly reduces the number of print-outs at the shops and helps the environment.

The latest service extensions were made possible by introducing a new version of the NTS Retail Suite. The roll-out took place without any restraints on regular store operations at the 120 Swisscom branches.

“Together with NTS Retail, Swisscom was able to further expand their service portfolio. This brings us closer to our customers and ensures the best possible cross-channel shopping experience,” says Urs Lehmann.
