Wilhering, Austria. Having already been present on the Austrian market since 2003, Hutchison Drei Austria operating under the "Drei" brand today is the country's second largest telco provider with more than 3.8m customers. Together with other subsidiaries in Ireland, the UK, Denmark, Sweden and Italy, the business group belonging to CK Hutchison Holdings Limited has a customer base of about 30.6m people throughout Europe.
One of the main reasons for the upgrade from the previously used version 11 to the latest X4 software release was, as with many Austrian companies, the new Cash Register Security Regulation (RKSV) that is to become effective on April 1, 2017. However, the company also took the opportunity of the upgrade project and decided to move away from its past concept of software customizations and to instead take advantage of the standard version of the NTS Retail Suite whose functional scope is continuously expanded with each release.
This is only made possible thanks to NTS Retail's constant efforts to further develop its tried-and-true software solution in close cooperation with leading telco brands worldwide in order to specifically tailor it to the particular needs of the industry. The result is an exceptionally high degree of coverage regarding telecom-specific requirements "out-of-the-box", which reduces the necessary efforts for customizations to a minimum and guarantees short implementation times. All this subsequently allows telco providers to maintain important update and release cycles under minimal efforts and thus provides them with the necessary flexibility to quickly react to the constantly changing market conditions, which is of major importance in this sector.
Upon finalizing the planned changes of the background systems, the software upgrade to the NTS Retail Suite X4 was completed mid-January 2017. Drei is now best equipped to face the RKSV's entry into force, profits from reduced integration efforts for upcoming upgrade projects and is thus ready for the future — all the while enjoying greatest possible flexibility and full coverage of industry-specific requirements out-of-the-box.
